Venezuela distributes earthquake repair aid to residents

National authorities in Venezuela began distributing financial aid to apartment owners and condominium associations impacted by the earthquakes of June 24th in La Guaira.

The program provides between 1,500 and 5,000 dollars for individual home repairs and up to 20,000 dollars for common area work managed by condominium associations. During the first phase in La Guaira, 1,647 homeowners linked to 57 condominium associations and 70 buildings received assistance.

These properties were previously classified with a yellow label by the Presidential Commission for the Evaluation of Housing Habitability, indicating they were assessed as needing repair but not being at immediate risk of collapse. The amount of aid varies, with the first delivery in La Guaira transferring 2,821.30 dollars to each of the 1,647 families. Some residents of Residencias Parque Mar reportedly received between 1,500 and 3,000 dollars, according to local reports.

To receive aid, a home must be registered following the earthquakes and included in habitability assessments. Condominium associations play a key role in gathering owner information and submitting it to the authorities. Authorities plan to continue the program with additional phases and deliveries, extending aid to more buildings and families affected by the earthquakes.
