Incheon, South Korea, will evaluate waste reduction efforts

Incheon City, South Korea, began evaluating how well its 11 districts reduced household waste, with plans to continue the assessments annually. The city aims to decrease total waste generation by 8%, from 332,642 tons in 2023 to 306,031 tons by 2030.

City officials will use both quantitative data, adjusting for population changes, and qualitative reviews of district plans and programs.

The district with the best results will receive a commendation from the Minister of Climate Change, Energy and Environment and continued funding for waste reduction projects, currently at 650 million won.
