Floodwaters recede, residents return home in four states

Residents of Penang, Pahang, Kedah, and Perak, Malaysia, returned to their homes after floodwaters lowered following heavy rain and storms.

The storms impacted eight villages and the Trong and Matang areas, prompting people to seek shelter in relief centres. As of this evening, only two relief centres remain open in Perak. The Matang Gelugor centre currently houses 146 people from 48 families, and the Matang centre provides shelter for 56 people from 21 families.
