Nepal returns funds to cooperative savers

In Kathmandu, Nepal, the Troubled Cooperative Management Committee returned money to 135 savers from five cooperatives facing financial difficulties.

The committee refunded 57 savers from Shivashikhar, 52 from Kantipur, 8 from Oriental Cooperative, 9 from Tulsi Multipurpose, and 9 from Ideal Yamuna Cooperative. The government clarified that the funds came from loan recovery efforts within these cooperatives. The committee began by refunding savers with smaller deposits, and plans to categorize savers by deposit size for future repayments.

The committee continues to return savings to cooperative members through legal means, using recovered loans and managed assets.
