Guyana invests billions to improve water access

The government of Guyana spent $2.9 billion (USD) during the first half of 2026 to expand access to safe drinking water across the country.

The Ministry of Finance reported this expenditure in a mid-year review. New wells and water distribution systems are under construction, and officials expect over 10,000 residents to benefit from the improvements. Guyana, a South American country, aims to provide more reliable potable water to its population through this investment.
