Zambia and US expand Peace Corps collaboration

Zambia and the United States agreed to strengthen their partnership with the Peace Corps program, which has worked in Zambia’s health, education, and agriculture sectors for over 30 years.

Mavis Nkomeshya, Permanent Secretary for the Resettlement Division, spoke on behalf of Vice-President Mutale Nalumango at an event celebrating the 30th anniversary of Peace Corps Zambia.

Nkomeshya stated that Zambia has exceeded the global 95-95-95 targets for HIV, achieving rates of 98-98-97 among its population through the combined efforts of the Peace Corps, PEPFAR, American support, and Zambia’s own investment.
