Uzbekistan halves poverty rate in four years

Between 2021 and 2025, Uzbekistan reduced its national poverty rate from 17.0 percent to 5.8 percent.

Strong growth in household consumption and wage employment helped drive this change, benefiting the country as a whole. This progress lifted roughly 3.7 million people out of poverty. Uzbekistan also saw a more than doubling of its middle class population during this period, indicating improving economic conditions for many citizens.
