Bison numbers reach 1,000 in US conservation project

American Prairie, a conservation nonprofit in North America, achieved a milestone by increasing its free-roaming bison population to over 1,000 animals.

The organization has worked for more than 20 years on the largest private land conservation project in the United States. This population level marks the first time the herd has reached four digits since the project began.
