Syria trains first female police officers

Around 150 women recently graduated from a new police academy in Al-Tal, Syria, after completing a six-month training program.

The course prepared them with military skills, physical training, legal knowledge, and practical police procedures. Syria’s authorities established the academy to rebuild security forces and expand women’s participation in law enforcement. May Aklajneh, a 22-year-old graduate, stated she fulfilled a lifelong ambition by joining the force when recruitment began. The new officers will now integrate into Interior Ministry units throughout Syria.
