Weißenfels renews playgrounds with EU funding

Weißenfels, a city in Germany, will renovate six playgrounds using 300,000 euros over the next two years.

The city received funding from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development through the LAG Montanregion Sachsen-Anhalt Süd. This program will cover 80 percent of the renovation costs, with Weißenfels providing the remaining funds. The city already secured commitments for five of the playground projects. Renovations will take place at playgrounds on Erich-Weinert-Straße, Erfurter Straße, in Kleinkorbetha, Tagewerben, and Wengelsdorf.

City officials expect to receive approval for the sixth and final playground project soon. The renovations include improvements to swings, climbing frames, and other playground equipment. The LAG Montanregion Sachsen-Anhalt Süd is a local action group responsible for distributing EU funds in the region.
