Tanzania opens new fishing harbor funded by China

China and Tanzania completed construction of a US$110 million fishing harbor in Kilwa Masoko, Tanzania. China’s ambassador Chen Mingjian announced the port’s completion, describing it as Tanzania’s first large-scale modern fishing harbor.

The port, located 186 miles south of Dar es Salaam and near the historical site of Kilwa Kisiwani, will allow larger fishing vessels to operate in the area. It is designed to handle 60,000 tonnes of fish annually.
