Charlotte and Isabelle Mbuyi, sisters from Antwerp, Belgium, are researching the history of Congolese sailors who studied in Antwerp and formed the first Congolese community there.
The daughters of a Congolese seaman, they seek documents, photographs, and testimonies to reconstruct the stories of these early pioneers. They aim to preserve these narratives and share them with future generations, recognising a shared history between Antwerp and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
