Gaza Family travels north to reunite after ceasefire

Captain Moumen, a member of Gaza’s Civil Defence, waited for his family to travel north and meet him after a ceasefire was announced.

For over a year, war had kept them apart. Moumen’s wife and children left the Nuseirat refugee camp, carrying their possessions, to reach him along Gaza’s coastal road. With hundreds of thousands of people also moving and no phone signal, locating each other proved difficult.

The reunion is the subject of a documentary film by Mohammed Sawwaf, Salah al-Haw, Ibrahim al-Otla and Mohammed Masharawi.
